Trade Larsson now- tell them the experiment was an epic (frank)ing failure x10 as Larsson sucked ass, sucks ass and will suck ass... Maybe skype Chia for some objective rationale as to why the trade happened in the first place... |

hometown discount?
If he signs for more like 10.5-11M and the Oilers have a tough time unloading Russell, all of a sudden things are looking tough. - Nucker101
I wouldn't view 9.5 million as close to a hometown discount. Compare Hall to Panarin's 12 million dollar contract.
Between beginning of 2015/2016 season and 2018/2019 season
Panarin has played in 322 games while Hall has appeared in 263
Panarin has scored 116 goals, Hall has 96
Panarin has a total of 320 points, Hall has 248
As I stated, there are plenty of ifs, ands, or buts to consider but if Hall finished the season with 24 goals and under 70 points I just don't see him commanding a similar salary to Panarin. |

Mark Stone money seems about right for Hall. Both are play-driving wingers that do a variety of things at elite levels and produce big numbers at even strength.
That being said, I'd pass on him. With the exception of his Hart trophy season, I don't feel his production does enough to outweigh the inherent risk of injury he carries and that's during his peak offensive seasons (age 23-27). Even if his offense stays consistent, I have a hard time seeing a player with his history of injuries becoming more durable into his 30s. I'd love me the reunion story line, but I don't think it'd work out for us.
I'd rather spend some of that money on upgrading the middle-6 with cheaper options (Zucker, Toffoli and Kreider come to mind) and preserve some cap space that a smart GM could use to exploit some teams leading into a possibly flat cap and a looming expansion draft. |

Why would Hall want to go to a place that wanted him gone? |

Why would Hall want to go to a place that wanted him gone? - Itsjustarash
Because the figureheads who were behind that master class of a deal are all gone. The spearheads (as per someone in Edmonton media) were Chiarelli, Buchberger and MacT with McLellan agreeing in principle to a Hall trade (though, he apparently expected more of a return). None of these people are still employed. Completely new management group and fanbase that still loves him. Further, he's said himself he felt that he felt he had unfinished in Edmonton, but that was a couple years ago.
Not saying it's likely to happen, but it's not like he hated playing here. He hated losing but consistently talked at length about wanting to be part of the team that brings the Oilers back a Cup. Maybe those feelings still linger, maybe not. |

Hall has established himself as a >ppg winger, hart trophy winner and was a first overall pick on top of that. He'll be wanting at least Panarin money, and I'm sure there will be a team that will give it to him, if he has a decent year. Don't see the Oilers being able to sign him unless he loved playing in Edmonton and wants to live there the rest of his career. |

I've been an Oilers fan for 30 years now, and no part of me would want Taylor Hall. He's way too much of a wild card.
The first experiment didn't work. I wouldn't want to screw with the current teams chemistry.
I'd be looking for upgrades in the bottom 6. |

No need to read this article.. Hall would never resign with the Oilers.. what a joke! |

Probably the last place on his and every nhl players list. Not a chance does he sign in Edmonton. |

Yeah lol thats why the biggest agent of the summer at the time in Millan signed here. Thats why Leon and Con signed for 8 year max because they were in such a hurry to get out right? I dont see any players sign max length with the Laffs. They seem really commited to being there lmao. |

Lucic signed there because they offered him a ridiculous contract that no one else in the league was going to give him. Which also happens to be the worst contract in the nhl now (shocker). Leon and connor both signed their deals before the players clued in to try to get to be UFA as soon as possible instead of taking max year deals. The leafs RFA players get a huge payday now and get another even bigger one much sooner that connor and leon do. If they could go back and do it over not a chance do they take 8 year deals lol even from a financial standpoint its one of the worst places to play because the taxes are so high. |

You make it work. If you have to shed some middling players that you like, so be it.
It’s what good gms do.
Hall gives this team a legitimate shot at cups for at least a few years. The final years are worth that risk. (And if healthy, I’ll bet even those aren’t an enormous drop off) And that’s all one can hope for in today’s nhl. Build a team, get a window, hope to cash in.
Otherwise, it’s nothing more than hope to even get to be a middling team let alone a true contender.
And let’s not forget; if we don’t get to said level sooner rather than later, Connors probably gone |

Not on hall at all.
He carried an almost ahl roster singlehandedly for years.
The team was playoff caliber with him on the ice, lottery without.
It’s like blaming Connor for the oilers being awful the majority of his career thus far. And he’s had Leon. Hall couldn’t even boast more than a 40-50pt nuge and a streaky one dimensional sniper in eberle.
And what chemistry are you speaking of?
97 and 29 running roughshod and carrying the squad. Unexpectedly great tending, and ok defence. Why does hall screw any of that up? All he does is give the oilers another superstar forward to bolster our top 6 and help matchups |

Craig Button right now on TSN 1050:
"The talk about Auston Matthews being a Top 5 player needs to stop. He's not in the the same tier as Leon Draisaitl."
Since when has Button said anything nice about us? |
